“In the celebration of Mass, the faithful form a holy people, a people of God’s own possession and a royal Priesthood, so that they may give thanks to God and offer the unblemished sacrificial Victim not only by means of the hands of the priest, but also with him and so that they may learn to offer their very selves…” (General Instruction of the Roman Missal, 95).
Day after day, Sunday after Sunday, season after liturgical season, the Church has never failed to gather for the celebration of the Mass. This is always a communal effort – clergy and faithful together.
Using history, theology, and liturgical texts, this morning session will explore the importance of liturgical ministries and how each of us and all of us participate fully, consciously, and actively in the very work of our salvation. Indeed, it is our “right and duty by reason of our baptism” (Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy , 14).
